“On the death of a friend, we should consider that the fates through confidence have devolved on us the task of a double living, that we have henceforth to fulfill the promise of our friend’s life also, in our own, to the world.” – Henry David Thoreau.
Think about the above statement. Really focus on it, let it marinate until you have completely wrapped your head around the responsibilities involved. Would you incorporate the dreams or goals of a friend? If so, when? How would you go about absorbing their life into yours while maintaining your own wants?
Think of a friend of yours who has a big dream and write up an exercise about how you would incorporate that dream. To save time on drama imagine that the greiving process is over and go from there.
