“The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
I have no shoes. I have no socks. I am barefoot and lost.
Write a scene about a character that is wandering around lost without shoes or socks. Point of view doesn’t matter. Resolution of the scene doesn’t matter. Just write for 10 – 15 minutes or until you feel like stopping. Sometimes it helps to give yourself a time limit if you don’t know where to go.
