It has been a while, this I know, but I found myself in a place of darkness and eagerness to rant. Instead of going off on things and strongly stating my opinions on irritations, I decided to take a step back, allowing my mind to settle.
I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season and vacation time. I know I enjoyed mine. We spent another year celebrating slightly off the actual days of the holidays due to work schedules. I am sure many can relate. I received a lovely gift of bronchitis and a sinus infection to go along with the holiday cheer. Luckily, I was the only one in the house that was affected with an illness, but it did damper my holiday spirits. Not to complain further, but I had some not so pleasant side effects from the antibiotic I was taking. Yuck!
During the holiday break I was allowing myself cheat days. Days turned into weeks, because my appetite was crazy and finding things that I could tolerate was few and far between. I ended up gaining a total of 3 pounds from Halloween till Christmas. I am happy to report that since the New Year I have adjusted my habits and exercise routine managing to quickly drop what was gained. All in all, I would say that my holiday weight was quite minimal to the average 10-15lbs claimed by statistics.
In case anyone was wondering, I do not do resolutions. I do not need a day to encourage a better lifestyle or changes. Having hopes of a full, happy, and long life is enough motivation for me! :)
I find myself a bit more distracted today than I would like. I have been tossing and turning in my sleep, never receiving more than a couple hours at a time. I haven’t quite figured out why, but it might be because I decided to do an alcohol and caffeine cleanse for the next week or two. I am detoxing my body and replenishing it with better beverages. You forget that holidays bring more opportunity for drinking, especially with all the people and parties about! So instead of having my nightcap to help me doze off and my pick me up in the morning my body seems confused from the altered routine. I know it will not take long for it to return back to normalcy!
I have begun a more involved routine with the girls since the new year. I finally received my acceptance into the girls PTA for the new school year, plus I have my new calendar of events for the girl scouts, and I signed the girls up to participate in some local activities! I am hoping that we will start making regular connections and friends soon! Did I mention that cookie season has begun?!?! The girls will start selling tomorrow! What fun, but sadly this troop does not sell my favorite all time Girl Scout cookie – Thanks a Lot. I guess that it is a blessing in disguise…
